7 & 8 March and 14 & 15 March.
Wonderful opportunity to visit the artists in their studios and learn what inspires them and what new art they are working on. It also gives you the chance to buy original work direct.
Over 40 artists are participating, bringing a rich and eclectic mix of the arts including potters, sculptors, painters, printmakers, photographers, flax weavers, woodworkers, mosaic artists, jewellers, a glass artist and a furniture maker.

Gala Opening and Showcase Exhibition at Hot Waves Café in Hot Water Beach on Friday 6th March at 6pm. Great opportunity for art lovers to buy new and unique works from Mercury Bay Art Escape artist members in the Gala Showcase.
Featuring special guest speaker Peter Lange, one of New Zealands leading ceramic artists and a renown public speaker. Peter will be auctioning one of his wonderful ceramics on the evening with a proportion of the funds going to Mercury Bay Art Escape.

GALA SHOWCASE ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE
9 - 13 March | Hot Waves Café, Hot Water Beach.
Every day from 12pm to 4pm during Mercury Bay Art Escape week there will be an artist on site to talk about their work and the showcase exhibition. As well as seeing the works on display, it’s a great opportunity to meet the artists and get to know more about their work and what motivates them.
INDIA & THE HIMALAYAS PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION AND OPENING NIGHT
10 - 12 March | The Coghill Centre, Whitianga.
Photographic exhibition by Ian Preece as part of the 2020 Mercury Bay Art Escape. Ian spent 5 years photographing and working in the Himalayas in Ladakah, Nanda Devi, Sikkim and Nepal and also travelled to Rajasthan and Goa. He is exhibiting a selection of his favourite images from his travels. .
Opening Night: Tuesday 10th March 6pm at The Coghill Centre in Whitianga. Tickets are $10 including food platter and a short talk by Ian about his work and reflections on the places he visited. There will also be a screening of the film ‘Lion’ at the Coghill Centre Cinema.

HOTTIES BEACHFRONT EATERY LOCAL MBAE ARTISTS RECEPTION
14 March | HOTTIES Beachfront Eatery
Local Artist’s Reception 6.30-8.30pm.
$50 ticket includes drink and canapes by Ben Bayly, celebrated New Zealand chef. An opportunity to meet the local MBAE artists representing Hahei, Hot Water Beach, Ferry Landing, Opito Bay, Cooks Beach and Whenuekite.
