In this workshop Bernadette will demonstrate her passion for watercolour, sharing her knowledge on all aspects of composing and achieving two paintings in a day, and encouraging you to succeed and find joy in this exciting medium.
About Bernadette Parsons
Bernadette is one of New Zealand's foremost watercolourists. Her artwork features in private collections in New Zealand and overseas, and is widely published in painting books. In her 20 years of painting, Bernadette has achieved enormous success in winning many art awards. Recent awards include:
- People's Choice Award at Splash-2017
- First Prize for Watercolour 2017 Royal Easter Show
- The Ray Hannan Trophy for Best Watercolour in Show
- The Royal Easter Show Medal for Most Successful Artist 2015
Bernadette's home is in the Whangamarino Wetland area in Mercer, which encouraged her to begin painting humble landscapes with a passion, using a freshness and simple approach that makes her landscapes unique. She believes watercolour is a medium that you work with in partnership, allowing it a freedom to create never-to-be-repeated happenings.
Arches or Saunders 300grm rough paper if possible. Minimum size A3 pref bigger.
A mop or round brush approx size 8 and a rigger or any brushes you have and like to use.
A backing board and cream or white masking tape.
Water container and paper towel.
Paints you need are:
- Raw Sienna
- Burnt Sienna
- French Ultramarine
- Alizarin Crimson
- Cobalt Blue
