Sculpture
Fabulous fun one-day workshop sculpting clay figures: human, animal or fantasy. Suitable for absolute beginners, as well as those with clay sculpting experience who wish to further their skills.
You'll create from terracotta sculpture clay, which is easy to use and fires to a rich orange/brown colour. It's gorgeous on display inside the house or outside.
All tools and equipment are provided. Clay and firing expenses additional, payable on the day.
Shown above are photos of student creations from Kay's previous workshops, using the same terracotta clay.
About Kay Ogilvie
Kay is an enthusiastic and accomplished potter/sculptor working from her cliff top studio just outside Coromandel Town. She studied design at Whangarei Polytech over 20 years ago, instantly falling in love with clay and has sculpted and potted ever since. "I was immediately enchanted by the feel of clay, the way it responded to every touch, the heat and noise of the kiln being fired, the buckets of sludgy glaze that would transform (usually!) into beautiful colours. I am as captivated by that magic as much today. Still experimenting, still learning, still loving it," says Kay.
