Pursuing Pastel Workshop
The pure luscious pigments that comprise pastel make this a vibrant, versatile and spontaneous medium. Fast-growing in popularity, pastels are fun to use and the results are always surprising. This is a beginner/intermediate class to gain an insight into the different types of pastels available and the various papers and surfaces suitable for pastel techniques. We will work from a still-life to learn the hands-on technique of layering pastel and achieving detail with colourful pastel.
Raewyn has recently established a new studio in Whitianga 'Art Loft Studio' where she works on commission portraits and other creative projects. She has been a practising pastel artist for twenty years and is well-known for her pastel portraits and coastal landscape paintings. Her portraits have been included with finalists in the Adams Portraiture Awards in Wellington and she exhibits annually with Pastel Artists of New Zealand in the Purely Pastel National Art Exhibition.
Paper and board will be provided.
